About Prof. Sergey Eletskiy
One of today’s most distinguished clarinetist, Sergey Eletskiy is internationally recognized for his talent and uniqueness.
Born in 1989 in Moscow, Eletskiy graduated with honors from the Central School of Music in the class of prof. Vladimir Ferapontov (National Artist of Russia and soloist of the Bolshoi Theater). Later, he continued to pursue his education at the Moscow State Conservatory in the class of prof. Evgeny Petrov, and at the Musikhochschule in Lubeck, Germany, under the guidance of prof. R. Wehle.
In 2012 Eletskiy became the first Russian clarinetist to win the ARD competition in Munich (one of the most prestigious and renowned competitions in the world). Following, came a series of victories in different international competitions, among which was the first prize in the Carl Nielsen Competition (Odense, Denmark 2013) and the first prize in the international clarinet competition in Ghent (Belgium, 2015). In 2018 Sergey received a special prize in the 15th Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, and is currently a holder of honorable mentions from the State of the Russian Federation.
Eletskiy constantly participates in many international festivals such as Radio France, Diaghilev Festival, and International music festivals in Colmar (France), and Bornholm (Dania).
As an active chamber musician, Sergey has shared the stage with such artists as Sabine Meyer, Hayk Kazazyan, Alexander Gindin, Aylen Pritchin, Yury Favorin, Alexander Ramm, Alexander Melnikov, Elena Revich, Alexey Goribol, as well as mutual collaboration with the David Oistrakh Quartet, and the Ciurlionis Quartet. Eletskiy is a permanent member of the chamber music programs of the Moscow Philharmonie.
Making appearances with current top orchestras, such as the Bavarian Radio Orchestra, Munich Radio Orchestra, Munich Chamber orchestra, MusicAeterna and others, Sergey has worked under the baton of prominent conductors like Mikhail Pletnev, Teodor Currentzis, Valentin Uryupin, and Daniel Rayskin.
Combining solo performances with orchestral engagements, Eletskiy is the principal clarinetist at the Russian National Orchestra (mstro. Mikhail Pletnev), and MusicAeterna (mstro. Teodor Currentzis).
In addition, Sergey regularly offers masterclasses in Russia and abroad, also being often invited as a member of the jury in many national and international competitions.
