About Prof. Karl-Heinz Simon
Karl-Heinz Simon, studied piano at the music academies in Karlsruhe (Prof. Peter Eicher), Barcelona (Prof. Maria Jesus Crespo) and Cologne (Prof. Josef Anton Scherrer). His regular collaboration with Prof. Nikita Juzhanin (St. Petersburg) provided him with important impulses.
In addition to his career as a soloist, he has performed for many years in a piano duo and played in various chamber music ensembles. He was also the artistic director of a chamber opera for a time. Concerts in German and European cities and festivals, including the International Piano Duo Festival in Bad Herrenalb, the Alte Oper in Frankfurt and Ludwigsburg Palace. His diverse activities are documented by various CD and radio recordings.
As Professor of Piano at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden, he is dedicated to promoting young pianists. Pupils and students in his class have won numerous prizes at national and international competitions and are successful both in concert and as lecturers at music academies. He also regularly leads international masterclasses and pedagogical training courses and is highly regarded as a juror at national and international piano competitions. Until 2018, he was artistic director of the Kultursommer Rheinland-Pfalz in Germersheim for several years.
Karl-Heinz Simon is particularly interested in analysing and correcting psychological and physiological playing inhibitions and playing problems on the piano.
