About Prof. Daniel Gaede
Daniel Gaede was concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic from 1994 to 2000.
As a soloist he has performed with leading orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the Philharmonia Orchestra London, the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, the Korean National Orchestra, the Polish Chamber Orchestra, Berliner Barocksolisten and the London Sinfonia Orchestra with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Richard Hickox, Bernhard Klee, Riccardo Muti and Michael Tilson Thomas.
Active chamber music activities have brought him together with P. Tortelier, M. J. Pires and Natalia Gutman, among others.
Daniel Gaede has recorded CDs for Deutsche Grammophon, Sony, Hänssler Classic, CPO, Oktavia Records, Largo Records, Querstand and the "Tacet" label and has received various awards for this (including the "Diapason d'Or").
Some of his students have won first prizes in international competitions and are now successful as freelance soloists or with their chamber music ensembles. Several of his students have become concertmasters or guest concertmasters with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Staatskapelle Dresden, Bamberger Symphoniker, Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonieorchester Basel, Concerto Köln, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Camerata Bern and others.
In the meantime, former students have become active in teaching themselves with professorships at the “University Mozarteum Salzburg”, the “HfM Franz Liszt” in Weimar, “Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe” or with various teaching assignments at several German, Austrian, Korean and Japanese music academies.
